Early Summer 2011

Summer has finally arrived.  The flowers are all blooming and the yard looks like a park.  What a difference since my last blog showing the yard back in late April.

A little work, a little relaxing and a little fun.

We had some serious high waters in our creek this year that took out about 50 feet of our fencing that had to be replaced.  The creek has completely changed it’s course here.  With both hubby and I having shoulder issues pounding the new fence posts was no fun.  Each slam down with the pounder I worried something might go in my back or neck. But we managed to get it done with only sore muscles after.

With the fencing behind us and a few days of good weather ahead it was time to take our 1st camping and fishing trip this summer.  So off to one of the lakes nearby.

Always loving to explore the area, I talked hubby into taking a climb with me up this steep mountain side.  We started at the lake down below and used no road or trail going up.  Well after the climb up we decided it was much easier to take an old logging road that we found back down.  Reaching back at our campsite on the lake we spent a quiet evening enjoying the view and campfire.

The fishing had not been good, but I always enjoy the ever changing scenes that the lake presents.

Well since the yard was starting to look like a park again, it was time for bocce ball and a barbecue.  The spectators were all lined up in chairs enjoying the late afternoon sun.  It turned out to be such a beautiful day.

Summer Beauty in our Yard

What marks summer more then with the arrival of the butterflies.

Yes the leaves are finally all out and my beds have filled in.

To be able to capture the beauty in my flowers gives me so much joy.

Little bits of color can now be found everywhere.

Our lilac is only just now in bloom.  Yes in July.  But what magnificent blooms it has.

The relics of past are displayed around our house.  Our deck looking over the valley.  Filled with potted flowers.

This lilac bush is left over from the old homestead.  It could be well over 80 years old.  It was the only thing that bloomed when we bought the place in 1988.  Every other blooming bush or flower we have planted, along with all the ornamental trees found thru out our yard.

What’ a visit to our place without seeing some wildlife.  This little squirrel is pregnant and due any day.  Momma dear had just given birth to this little fawn she is nursing.

Hope you enjoyed your quick visit to my place as much as I enjoyed giving you the tour.

Wishing Everyone
Whatever Season it is too you.
Good Morning…   Good Afternoon…   Good Night…

Where ever you are.

Wow, Carrie, it does look like a park! Still haven't seen any fawns or goslings yet which is very unusual. Frankie has started carrying her little point and shoot everywhere she goes so we have a little competition going over who gets the first shots.

As my Mom would say it's hot as blue blazes here this weekend so Buddy and I are enjoying the air conditioning while chafing at the bit to get out and explore.

Hope you have a great week without anymore fence posts to replace.

You indeed live in a very beautiful place. I know how much work and effort it takes to keep it up and make it how you want it to be. Be careful

Lilacs are my favorite flowers with peonies right behind. Must be my midwest upbringing.

Thanks for visiting and your kind words.

I loved taking the tour here with you Carrie - what a beautiful place ! And lilacs and peonies still blooming - fantastic ! A great shot too of the calm lake with the canoe and the reflections. Country living is such a joy (even with poor internet service !).

Have a super week !

Beautiful green all round like a country park! Lovely place! Been thinking for sometimes now, want to try cooking some stinging nettles, dandelion in the past, never know how, and now from you... stir fry with garlic and tomatoes, sounds yummy! Got plenty down the veg patch back at in-law. But are they young enough? :-)

Thank you so much for your visit and kind words Carrie, your understanding and friendship. Mei

This spring and early summer weather (especially the rain) has not been very kind to many people and I see yourself icnluded. Yes, flooding has certainly been a headache for many this year. I am just so glad that you guys were able to repair your fencing and in good time.
Looks like you two had a wonderful camping trip. I grew up camping, and have to say it's one of my favorite ways to spend a vacation. There's something very special about fresh air, letting go of a busy world, and just enjoying simple moments. I hope that you get to go again!!

You seem so connected to my words, yet others see not with your eyes. I come here when trouble strikes; matters not be it me or others looking for something in your pictures, that speak to me. The little guy in the green; not knowing who or what may be watching. Sometimes in the darkness, I see more clearly than most are able to see in the light. Just like the little guy in the green.....Peace to you....mark

Carrie, the early summer is beautiful. I enjoyed so much all these pictures. The first set my mood perfectly. It's a pure pleasure to look at these wonderful flowers. And a lake made me want to visit this beautiful and very relaxing place.

And a butterfly is in all her glory and feasting on the grass. And it's so sunny and so big. FANTASTIC PICTURES!!! I love all of them very much.

Greetings from Kaya.

Carrie, absolutely a beautifully presented visit to your home. I would dearly love to visit there but this is as close as I'll get and you made it completely enjoyable.

Thank you SS much for standing by me while I mend. If the bone has healed in the right configuration then the cast will be off tomorrow this time. I hope.

wow Carie, so glad to see your more beautiful than park ranch, in addition no parks would be visited by lovely wildlife like your ranch. after long winter, it is the time to enjoy summer glories.
this summer i was away from arctic for pretty long time, mostly because work with my new property in Toronto, but i enjoyed a lot as there is a back yard where i can work with flowers and lawns, mostly exciting part is watch all kinds of birds.
hope your sore in muscles did not last long, the grass came back to your fence.
enjoy your long weekend my friend.
